  • Our guest this month is Thomas Studebaker, lecturer of voice at the Central Michigan University School of Music. He is a tenor, and will present an exciting program including music by Aaron, Copland, Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, Gustav Mahler and more that WCMU listeners are sure to enjoy!
  • The 49th annual Jazz Weekend took place at Central Michigan University on February 10 and 11. Today we will swing along with Robbie Smith, Professor of Music-Jazz Studies, and Jazz Lab 1—along with guest artist, bassist Marion Hayden.   • Central Stage: February 4, 2022: Dr. Lindabeth Binkley, professor of oboe at the Central Michigan University School of Music, is this month’s guest.
  • It’s the first Friday of the month, time for “Central Stage.” Today, Judy Wagley welcomes MaryBeth Minnis, professor of bassoon at the Central Michigan University School of Music. On the program, Professor Minnis performs a variety of music including a traditional work by Gabriel Pierne, “Full Moon in the City” by Libby Larsen with the CMU orchestra, an evocative duet with Lindabeth Binkley, professor of oboe at CMU, and “Black Lion” by George Fetner an innovative work for amplified bassoon. WCMU listeners are in for a treat!
  • Today we are delighted to set the stage for the holidays with "Juletide," the annual celebration from the Central Michigan University School of Music. This concert was recorded on December 7, 2019 in Staples Family Concert Hall.T
  • Central Stage host Sue Gamble welcomes Dr. Alicia Valoti, Professor of viola at the Central Michigan University School of Music, along with her student, Leonardo Marchiolli Gomes Sobral, who came to CMU to pursue his Master’s Degree in viola performance. They will present music by Max Bruch, Giovanni Paola Colonna, and Lillian Fuchs, as well as discuss the instrument they love.
  • Central Stage welcomes Dr. Christopher Chapman, Director of Bands at the CMU School of Music, and Dr. James Batcheller, who directs the Marching Chips. They talk with Sue Gamble about the bands and present student ensemble performances of music by Paul Hindemith and Igor Stravinsky as well as rousing selections by the Marching Chips.
  • Join us at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 3 for “Central Stage.” Sue Gamble’s guests are John Nichol, professor of Saxophone at the Central Michigan University School of Music, and Dr. Jonathan Nichol, professor of saxophone at the University of Oklahoma School of Music.
