Nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and conservation enthusiasts are invited to join us for the 10th Annual Aldo Leopold Festival, taking place May 28–June 1, 2025, in the scenic Les Cheneaux Islands in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula. The Aldo Leopold Festival honors the life and work of Aldo Leopold, whose formative summers were spent exploring Marquette Island and the Les Cheneaux Area. The festival offers a rare opportunity to experience the same areas that shaped his pioneering land ethic and lifelong passion for ecological stewardship. The festival offers over 50 different tours, workshops, and lectures over the course of five days. Enjoy paddling excursions, wildflower walks, nature hikes, birdwatching tours, nature inspired art and more! Pre-registration for tours is highly recommended. Most will sell out.
Trinity Episcopal Church, in collaboration with St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, are again providing a communion service during Pride Month. We desire to provide a safe and welcoming place for our LGBTQ+ siblings to experience God’s deep, abiding, and abundant love as well as celebrate how we are each created perfectly in God’s image.
Our service will include hymns, readings from the Bible, a sermon, prayers, music provided by Great Lakes Bay Pride’s Harmony Diversity Choir, communion and/or a personal blessing, a blessing over all, and dismissal.

Join us for an immersive, skill-building 3-week course focused on creating stunning landscape paintings with watercolors. Led by instructor Cheryl Meyer, students will be encouraged to bring either their own landscape photos or come prepared with ideas of the scenery they would like to paint. The class will emphasize personal expression and creativity, allowing you to capture the essence and beauty of the natural world through your unique perspective.
You will work on larger paper throughout the course, providing ample space to bring your vision to life. Instruction will be centered on developing the finer details within your chosen landscapes, enabling you to enhance the depth and realism of your paintings.
While prior watercolor painting experience is recommended, it is not required to participate in this workshop.
The 3-week course will be held from noon-2 pm on Monday, June 2-16 in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Join instructor Matthew Grimmer for an introduction to soft pastels. This course is designed to teach students how to draw from life while giving them an understanding of how to utilize color theory and the medium itself. You'll learn to use color to portray lights and shadows and how to pair colors to achieve harmony within a composition. You’ll also cover draftsmanship and drawing from sight so students can hone their realistic drawing techniques.
Over the course, students will build a drawing in successive layers, learning how to apply the appropriate layer each week; beginning with a focus on drawing techniques and ending with a heavier focus on color and blending. Students will work from the same still life over the course, so you have plenty of time to work on a single subject. This course is perfect for pastel beginners or intermediate level.
This three-week course will be held from 2-4 pm on Tuesdays, June 3-17, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) has opened a new location in Petoskey for several agency programs. The building underwent major renovations that were completed in February 2025.The new campus is 14,000+ square feet and will house Children’s Learning Center (CLC) childcare and preschool programs, Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) services, comprehensive domestic abuse and sexual assault services, licensed therapy, community outreach and collaboration, and agency administration. WRCNM services are designed to strengthen the community by providing specialized advocacy, support, access to resources, and education. WRCNM serves Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, and Cheboygan counties, and works with dozens of community partners across the five-county service area. A celebration event will be open to the public on Tuesday, June 3rd from 3:30-6:30pm at 2225 Summit Park Drive in Petoskey. The ribbon-cutting presentation will be at 3:45 followed by brief remarks from WRCNM Executive Director Gail Kloss and Board President Erika Van Dam. Building tours, activities, and light refreshments will be provided. Leadership gifts by WRCNM, an anonymous donor, and the Kroeger-Mainland Family Fund propelled this project forward and dozens of additional donors, community groups, and foundations have provided critical support with gifts of various levels. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while exploring the art of plein air watercolor painting with instructor Cheryl Meyer. This course offers a unique opportunity to connect with the landscape as we paint in the protected natural areas of the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy preserves. Learn how to capture in watercolors the tranquil Chippewa River and serene surroundings of Sylvan Solace, Hiawatha Hills, Bundy Hill and Halls Lake Natural Area.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this class will guide you through the fundamentals of plein air painting, including sketching, color mixing, composition, and watercolor techniques. We’ll explore how to work with natural light, the changing weather, and the dynamic environment around us to create stunning, atmospheric pieces of art that reflect the beauty of our local Chippewa watershed preserves.
This course takes place from 9 am-noon on Wednesdays, June 4-18 at the following four Chippewa Watershed Conservancy preserves in Isabella County. Students may register for individual sessions or select the full three session course for a discounted rate.

Note: all painting supplies will be provided. If you have supplies, we suggest one pan watercolor set for outdoors, assorted brushes, & water. All students should bring a camp chair, drinking water, sunblock and bug spray. Each location will have a short hike in to the preserve.
Toddlers (and parents!) are invited to join us for Wee Wednesdays! Wee Wednesdays is a bi-monthly program held from 10 to 11 am on the first and third Wednesday of the month. During each session, wee ones will gain art, reading, critical thinking, and tactile development skills. Each session will be a new project created on-site for your little ones to take home and enjoy!
