A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY ABOUT THE THINGS WE DO TO STAY TOGETHER.
Everyone’s favorite Scottish nanny is headed to the Great Lakes Bay Region in this internationally acclaimed hit musical critics call “wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny” (Manchester Evening News) and “a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers” (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film, MRS. DOUBTFIRE tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It’s “the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now,” raves the Chicago Tribune – one that proves we’re better together.

Deepen your understanding of landscape painting with artist Matthew Grimmer. During this six-week course, students will learn the building blocks of creating dynamic, well-composed landscapes. Starting with sketches, students will practice draftsmanship and compositional studies to prepare their canvas for paint. We will cover how to use a variety of artistic tools, including but not limited to pens, pencils, watercolors, and cameras, to gather the information required to complete our oil paintings later in the course. Students will employ the “new” oil method, which involves a base layer of marble dust, oil, and pigment, followed by a detailed underpainting focused on values, layout, and linework. During the following weeks, we will shift our attention to more in-depth painting skills: color theory, brush handling, and working fat-over-lean, to name a few. This course is designed for intermediate-level painters.
This 6-week course will be held weekly from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, December 23-January 27 in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
Recommended age: 16 and up
Please note: An active membership is not required to register. Active members receive a 15% discount on classes.

Lorraine Hansberry's timeless drama follows the Younger family as they navigate ambition, hope, and injustice in 1950s Chicago. When a life insurance check arrives, each family member reflects on their dreams of a different future; one that promises freedom, security, or change in their life. As they face systematic barriers and personal struggles, the Younger family must decide what dreams are worth fighting for. A Raisin in the Sun is a powerful and deeply relevant story of resilience.
