The Northwest Soaring Club is offering a glider pilot ground school on Wednesday evenings from January 10th through March 21st 2018. The classes will be held from 7:30 pm till 9:00 pm at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center, 9901 E. 13th St., Cadillac, and is free to the public. The course is designed for those age 14 and up that aspire to soar the skies. Material will be presented by FAA certificated instructors and experienced soaring pilots, preparing candidates to pass the written exam required to earn the FAA Private Pilot/Glider license. If you’ve ever imagined soaring the skies like an eagle or a hawk, enjoying the freedom of acting as captain of an aircraft, or of taking on the challenge of making cross country soaring flights, the Northwest Soaring Club offers a step by step program toward achieving your goals. Glider flying and soaring is an extremely simple form of aviation that intimately connects pilots to the art and science of flying. Learning to fly gliders is also perhaps the least costly and accessible forms of flying. Learning to fly a glider is a great way to enjoy access to the sky, or to create a solid foundation for an aviation career.
