As of Dec. 1, Michigan snowmobiles are able to hit state trails. The Michigan snowmobile trail report says that various state trails are already opening up for the season.

For the third time in the last four years, the annual snowmobile gathering in Gaylord has been called off due to safety concerns and poor trail conditions.

Low snowfall accumulation has resulted in less snowmobile tourism throughout the region where businesses rely on people hitting the trails.

The city anticipates over 250 snowmobilers from across Michigan and neighboring states. Local leaders say the event is a huge boost for the local economy.
