Grand Rapids Police Chief, Eric Winstrom will release body and dash camera footage from the shooting and killing of 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya this afternoon. The announcement came on Tuesday, just before activists marched downtown to address city leaders.

"I think we have one of the greatest police forces in the world here, Grand Rapids Police Department, but the code of blue they refuse to get rid of their bad tomatoes," Kent County Commissioner Robert Womack said.

National and local leaders are rallying around Patrick Lyoya’s family, as they await the release of body camera footage from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Authorities said Monday a Grand Rapids Police Officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Payne has announced plans to retire in early 2022, after more than three decades in uniform.
