Sunday on 'The Juke Joint,' a preview of the Chicago Blues Festival

A preview of some of the albums being featured on 'The Juke Joint' on May 21.

Sunday night on ‘The Juke Joint,’ the Duke of Juke, Robert Barclay, will preview the 2017 Chicago Blues Festival, the world's largest free blues festival.

 

Among the artists appearing this year are Rhiannon Giddens, Billy Branch, Coco Montoya,Rick Estrin & the Night Cats, the Como Mamas, Lurrie Bell, Gary Clark Jr, William Bell, Denise LaSalle, John Primer and 90-year-old pianist, Henry Gray. 

 

Tune in to ‘The Juke Joint,’ Sunday evening from 8pm-11pm, on WCMU Public Radio.

Robert Barclay launched "The Juke Joint" broadcast on WCMU in April 1985. It has been a Sunday night fixture from 8:00-11:00 pm ever since. A devoted listener dubbed him the "Duke of Juke." He includes nearly a century's worth of blues history on his program including traditional and contemporary blues along with boogie woogie, soul music, rhythm & blues, zydeco and gospel music.
