Indiana University recently ranked in the top ten in the world for performing arts institutions by QS World University Rankings.

For decades, the IU Jacobs School of Music has produced some of the finest opera singers in the country, such as Lawrence Brownlee and Jamie Barton, to name only two. The Center welcomes a group of vocalists from the Jacobs School of Music who will perform classical vocal selections–from opera arias to art songs. This will be an opportunity to hear future Metropolitan Opera stars right on Center Stage!

Praised for her “moving, involved expression,” Atlanta-born soprano Kellie Motter is a graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she held the Georgina Joshi Graduate Fellowship. Kellie has been engaged as a young artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and Central City Opera, and recently made her principal debut with Opera Naples in the role of Silvia (L’isola disabitata). Other roles include Marie (La fille du régiment), Despina (Così fan tutte), La Fée (Cendrillon), Morgana (Alcina), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor. She is a 2018 winner of the American Prize in Opera.

Judy Wagley is WCMU’s midday host, and is the producer of The Children’s Bookshelf from From the Ground Up! She guides listeners through their weekdays from 9am to 3pm.
