Musician Kid Rock is hinting at a run for one of Michigan's U.S. Senate seats in 2018. The Michigan native said Wednesday on Twitter that he would "have a major announcement in the near future."
He also answered questions about the website KidRockForSenate.com, telling followers who have been asking if the site is real that "the answer is an absolute YES." However, the website's store redirects to a website run by the Warner Bros. record label, that features "Kid Rock for Senate" hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers and yard signs.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, is a Republican from Romeo, outside Detroit. Should he enter the race, he would join former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Robert Young, and Lena Epstein, the former Michigan co-campaign chair for President Donald Trump in vying for the GOP nomination. The winner of that race will face Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the general election.
Should he run, Rock would have a friend in the White House. He recently joined another Michigan rocker, Ted Nugent, for dinner at the White House with President Trump.
