Northwest Lower Michigan General Assignment ReporterDraya Raby is a newsroom intern for WCMU based at the Cadillac News.
Raby is a rising senior at Central Michigan University majoring in journalism with a minor in creative writing.
She is the secretary of the CMU chapter of The Wildlife Society and the social media chairperson of the CMU chapter of The Sierra Club.
Being a writer and spreading stories of the world has always been her dream, in the hope to bring people across all cultures together in understanding.

Singer-songwriter Demun Jones from small town Georgia is performing at The Venue in Cadillac on June 26. His mix of the country and rap genres is heavily influenced by the life and values of rural areas and the hip-hop music that Jones grew up listening to.

TNT Demolition Derby recently hosted the Wexford Warzone event in Cadillac. Roughly 300 drivers came to the event for the weekend, one of which was Heather Kill. She shared what she loves about racing and what it was like to experience it in Wexford.

The Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show has been teaching local youth about the many pieces that make up an agricultural community. An outbreak of bird flu in poultry and dairy cattle has caused one event cancellation and is expected to cause more changes to this year’s fair.

4-H organizations across the state are unable to show poultry and dairy cattle at fair this year, due to a bird flu outbreak originating in Texas. Osceola County in northern Michigan has made adjustments so that youth can still show what they learned from their livestock projects this year.

Drew Hale will be kicking off a summer series of live music events at the Coyote Crossing Resort in Cadillac. He calls his music "Roots Rock" and pulls inspiration from all aspects of life in northern Michigan.
