Most of Midland County has recovered from the devastating floods of 2020.
It has been five years since the Midland Historical Society sent over 400 archival feet of wet but freeze-dried historical assets to Prism Specialties Art in Livonia from The Doan History Center in Midland.
Prism remediates damaged or nearly destroyed works of art or archived paperwork. Many of the pieces were saved from flood damage and some are still being worked on.
Jake Huss, historical programs and exhibitions manager at the Midland Historical Society, said the long recovery is justified.
"Right after the flood, the hospital beat us to Prism to have things recovered," he said. "But if there's one place you cant be angry about it's the fact that they serviced the hospital first."

The Doan Center materials got put in a cue and took a few months before Prism got started. Archived materials that were restored quickly were quickly placed in storage. They will sit there until their new home is built.
Huss said they will hopefully have a new, second- floor home at the Midland Center for the Arts by December 2026.
