The United Auto Workers union is in its second week of negotiations with Detroit’s automakers.

U-A-W President Shawn Fain has pledged to be more transparent during negotiations. He gave an update today (TUE) on the proposal from Stellantis…which has made 12 billion dollars so far this year.

“When we get things like this from the company, and they want to sit there and talk about they're not asking for concessions and looking for concessions, everything they're looking for in this document is about concessions. So I'll tell you what I'm gonna do with their proposal. I'm gonna file it in its proper place because that's where it belongs to trash because that's what it is.”

Fain says Stellantis plans to cut 401k matches for UAW members, add more wage tiers, and cut medical benefits.

The current contract expires in mid-September.
