Battle Creek Public Schools told its students today [WEDS] they can qualify for a scholarship for up to 100 percent of tuition and fees at any four-year Michigan college or university.

The scholarship is funded by the W - K Kellogg Foundation.

Angelo Williams is a junior in the district. He says his fellow students almost couldn't believe the news was real.

"It was nothing short of a pop in the auditorium, definitely, everyone was really surprised, after the assembly everyone was really excited just knowing what the magnitude of this means for us going forward."

The scholarship also pays for tuition at many Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation.

Williams says attending an H-B-C-U is his dream and the scholarship makes it possible.
