Michigan Adult Protective Services needs to do a better job of referring complaints to law enforcement.
That’s among the findings in a recent audit.
The state Auditor General’s report looked at almost 2-and-a-half years of pre-pandemic data to assess the performance of Adult Protective Services.
Overall, the audit found the agency to be “moderately effective” in most of the reviewed areas.
Lewis Roubal oversees the system for the state. He says feedback from the audit will help with changes to the complaint filing process.
“That comes back to us better structuring, and training and monitoring that centralized intake experience. So, I definitely think that that’s something that the residents that we engage with will certainly see.”
The audit found the agency needed improvement in multiple areas.
Those include training and the case review process.
