Michigan State Police are working with local departments this holiday season to prevent crashes on the roads.
Officials say the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will target impaired driving across the state, while also looking for speeders.
Lieutenant Michael Shaw says residents can save lives by staying off the roads when under the influence of alcohol or cannabis.
“That’s one-hundred percent preventable. That is one person making the decision that they’re not going to get behind the wheel impaired. If we could get everybody to do that, our fatality rate would go down greatly.”
Shaw says federal grants make this work possible.
He says the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign runs through New Year’s Day, while the speeding enforcement campaign will run through February.
