A bipartisan group of House lawmakers stood alongside accident survivors on the state capitol steps on Wednesday.
They announced a new auto-insurance-related bill package.
Accident survivors have spent months pushing lawmakers to pass bills they say would fix issues with Michigan’s 2019 no-fault insurance law that recently took effect.
Republican state Representative Doug Wozniak says he’s feeling optimistic about this package despite past ones stalling in committee.
“We can take care of this. We had no-fault for over 43-years. It worked until we finally figured out we need to control all those costs. Well we need to do that for the post-acute too and that’s where we’ve got to go.”
People who were catastrophically injured are losing care because the law lets insurance companies pay home care providers less than the cost of providing care.
