Midland Area Community Foundation to hold Zoom call updates on flood recovery

Midland’s recovery from spring’s catastrophic flooding is still underway and has a long way to go.

Beginning Thursday morning at 10:30am the Midland Area Community Foundation will begin a series of zoom calls to keep the community informed on recovery progress and available resources.

Kevin LaDuke with the foundation said the first meeting will focus on case management.

Laduke said, “the call is gonna be led by the president and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation, Sharron Mortinson, and she serves on the steering committee for the long term recovery group, additionally we’re also gonna have Nancy Money and Nancy Money is the chair of the case management committee, and Nancy’s gonna be able to provide a closer look at case management as a whole.”

LaDuke said this will be the first of hopefully many zoom calls they plan to hold on the first and third Thursday of each month. He said if someone wants to attend they should pre-register, but if someone can't make it he said they should also be able to watch the meeting be replayed on local public access stations.

He said the meetings will continue as long as they're needed, meeting every first and third Thursday of every month.

LaDuke said this came out of the desire to keep the public better informed on the process and to answer questions the community might have. He said the first meeting will likely shape how future meetings work, he said it's a learning process on both sides.
