Join instructor Emily Gunning for a tactile exploration of handbuilding in clay. Over this 6-week course, students will explore various methods of building functional or decorative clay vessels without the need for a pottery wheel. Pinch pots, slab, and coil construction will be covered, as well as various methods of achieving surface texture and form for a solid foundation in pottery construction. Projects will be fired off-site and ready for glazing at the final session. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is required. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to get your hands dirty!
Supply and kiln fees are included in tuition.
This class will be held weekly from 3-5 pm, Tuesday, November 4-December 9, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Creative 360 is seeking artwork that includes animals for an upcoming 2026 exhibition as part of the Living with Animals series sponsored by Andy & Donna Rapp.
Dates & Deadlines:~ Entry Deadline - Noon, Dec 15, 2025.~ Exhibit Opening - 7pm, Jan 9, 2026~ Exhibition Ends Feb 22 - artwork pick up Feb 23 from 8:30 am - 6:00 pm~ All art should be delivered to 5501 Jefferson Ave starting on Dec. 10, 11, & 12 , 9am - 6:30pm or Dec. 15th, 9am - Noon.~ Artists who live out of the area may submit digital images for juror review. Images must be high quality JPG or PNG files. After registration, images can be sent to Tefft@becreative360.org. If digitally submitted artwork is accepted, it is the artist’s responsibility to drop the art at the Jefferson gallery no later than 12pm, Dec. 23, 2025.~ Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before Dec 22, 2025.
Rules:~ Artwork must contain an animal. The theme of the exhibition is “Celebrating our relationships with all creatures great & small.”~ Artwork must fall into a 2D, 3D or photography category.~ Artists must be 16+ to enter.~ Art must be original work by the artist (no kits, commercial patterns, etc).~ Artwork must not have been previously displayed at Creative 360.~ Artwork must be clean and ready to hang (wired if 2D).~ Each $30 entry (limit 2 per artist) must be labeled with the title and artist’s name on the back of the artwork.

The 1842 historic Dougherty Mission House built by Rev. Peter Dougherty, Chief Agosa, the Ottawa and Chippewa opens for tours on Wednesday, June 12th Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11am until 4pm. Tour the former Inn where the fruit industry began in the Traverse City region. Discover the ties to the Old Mission Peninsula Lighthouse while you tour the house, summer kitchen, carriage shed, icehouse, and demonstration garden. See the new Old Mission Agricultural Heritage exhibit where Old Mission Peninsula earned its name.
