Spring Beginning Encaustic Painting

Discover the luminous and versatile world of encaustic painting in this beginner-friendly workshop. Learn the fundamentals of working with heated beeswax, pigment, and mixed media to create captivating works of art. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore! All materials are provided. Age 16+

You don’t need to be funny . . . you just need to jump into character!

Take your improv journey to the next level! Build on the foundations of level 1 and dive into improvised scene work - the heart of improv. Through engaging exercises, we'll develop characters, highlight relationships, and craft meaningful (and hilarious) scenes together.

Strengthen your ability to "Yes, And…" by actively agreeing with and building on your teammates' ideas in a supportive and playful environment. This class is perfect for honing creativity, collaboration, and adaptability.
Prerequisites: Improv level 1 or instructor approval.

Engage in dynamic games and exercises fostering teamwork, trust, and spontaneity in a supportive environment. Embrace failure as you develop your ability to stay present and seize the unexpected.

Coach Ariel Rak studied and performed short and long form improv with Magnet Theater (NYC) and the N.J. School of Dramatic Arts and was a member of ComedySportz before moving to Midland. Ages 18+

Who doesn’t love to dance? This low-key class taught by local choreographer Kelli Jolly is designed for adults ages 18 and up! A flexible schedule allows you to drop in whenever you want.

Appropriate for ALL levels, from experienced dancer to complete beginner – the class is about having fun and enjoying the rhythm without any pressure.

Classes are 90 minutes and consist of a warmup, skills across the dance floor, and a combination.

Wear any comfortable shoes and clothing.

Young artists are invited to hone their drawing skills with instructor Jason Correia in this 8-week skill-building course. Students will sharpen their observational skills while becoming more confident in their drawing abilities. Each class will focus on a still life that all will draw from. Each session will begin with a short demonstration, followed by dedicated drawing time from the still life, during which each student will receive one-on-one feedback. Students will cover gesture drawing, contour drawing, value, and mark-making, giving students a full range of drawing techniques using different media, such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and ink. This course is perfect for setting a solid foundation in drawing techniques that can enhance art skills in other media.

This course will be held weekly from 4-5:30 pm on Thursdays, March 5- April 30 (skipping April 2 for Spring Break), in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at 111 E. Broadway, Mount Pleasant, MI.

Recommended age: 10 and up

Please note: An active membership is not required to register. Active members receive a 15% discount on classes.
