Reimagine Van Gogh in mixed media with instructor Cheryl Meyer. Students will be guided in recreating Van Gogh’s early work, “Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette,” on black paper. Originally created in oil, you’ll render the image in watercolor, chalk pastels, and inks for a mixed media project just in time for the Halloween season. All skill levels are welcome.

Join instructor Annie Croft to experiment with painted papers, collage and assembly fun. This is a fun and stress-free artform where students get a peek into the life of children’s author Eric Carle as well as his art methods. Students will be supplied with all the materials they need to create at least one collaged image, utilizing acrylic, watercolor, pastel and paper scraps for a whimsical take on his iconic artworks.

Join instructor Amy Perschbacher for a night of spooky moves! Students will learn Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller dance. If you don’t have dance experience, that’s ok; dancers of all skill levels are welcome! No dance partners are needed- come as a couple, come as a single, or with friends for a night out!

Teen Open Studio is a relaxed, creative night just for teens—perfect for hanging out, making art, and enjoying some pizza. Whether you're into painting, drawing, or want to try something new, this is a great space to explore your creativity and meet other teen artists. Teen Open Studio runs from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, October 25, and takes place on the fourth Saturday of every month.
This program is a Teen Advisory Group (TAG) initiative designed to give teens space and support to explore their creativity.

This is the second course of four in the Fundamentals of Drawing series with acclaimed artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. This course will build upon the skills learned in course 1 to further advance your technical art skills. Participants will learn how to utilize tools to sharpen their skills in drawing. You will learn more about observation with site measuring. Students will also learn technical skills in using grids, their many uses as a tool, and how it assists in portrait drawing, as well as one & two-point perspective drawing.
Fundamentals of Drawing 1 is required before taking Fundamentals of Drawing 2.
This 12-week course will be held weekly from 3-5:30 pm, on Monday, September 15-December 1, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
This is a recurring 4-week class for students who wish to hone their colored pencil skills further with artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. Class is dedicated to advanced ideas and rotating projects, as well as critique for serious students building a portfolio and looking to exhibit their work. Students MUST have completed Intro to Colored Pencils with Julie Tyslicky to enroll in this class.
This 4-week course will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, October 13-Nov 3, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Do you love your house plants? Bring at least one of your favorite house plants and learn how to paint their portrait! Teacher Annie Croft will guide students through composition and color choices, bringing your potted pet to life. Each student will paint an acrylic painting on a 16x20 canvas. If your green thumb turns brown, you’ll still have your plant painting to keep the memories alive!

Are you the type of person who loves funky and fun artwork? You will love this unique art experience of creating an artwork that embraces imperfections. Contour-line and blind-contour drawings have long been used by artists to teach about observation, to give up trying to control and perfect a drawing. Teacher Annie Croft will walk students through the steps of creating unique contour line drawings, coloring the painting, and adding textures for extra interest. Grab a co-worker or friend and a beverage of your choice and join us for an exploration of this freeing method!

Join instructor Cheryl Meyer for an exploration of free painting in watercolor. You’ll experiment with free-form painting and then identify shapes or creatures from what you see in the paint. This two-session class uses watercolor, then pen/marker to create a surreal, dreamlike painting. No experience necessary.

This is the final course of the four-part Fundamentals of Drawing series with acclaimed artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. Throughout this course, students will focus on the importance of developing a series of work. We will be discussing why this is important in your development as an artist. You’ll discover how working in a series can broaden and hone your skills. We will touch on Artists’ Biographies, Artists’ Statements, and the difference between the two. You will be guided on how to enter a juried show. Please note- completion of Drawing 1-3 is required to participate in this course.
