Join instructor Cheryl Meyer for an exploration of free painting in watercolor. You’ll experiment with free-form painting and then identify shapes or creatures from what you see in the paint. This two-session class uses watercolor, then pen/marker to create a surreal, dreamlike painting. No experience necessary.
This two-week class will be held from 2-4:30 pm, Wednesday, October 22-29, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

This is the final course of the four-part Fundamentals of Drawing series with acclaimed artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. Throughout this course, students will focus on the importance of developing a series of work. We will be discussing why this is important in your development as an artist. You’ll discover how working in a series can broaden and hone your skills. We will touch on Artists’ Biographies, Artists’ Statements, and the difference between the two. You will be guided on how to enter a juried show. Please note- completion of Drawing 1-3 is required to participate in this course.
This 12-week course will be held from 6-8:30 pm on Wednesdays, September 17-December 3, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Summon the spooky season with a series of flying creatures rendered in watercolor! Led by instructor Cheryl Meyer, you’ll focus on capturing the form and personality of birds & bats through expressive painting techniques. Each week in this 3-session course will feature a different harbinger of the dark, and this class will guide you in bringing them to life on paper.
Perfect for beginner to intermediate artists, we’ll explore watercolor fundamentals such as wet-on-wet, layering, and texture while also learning how to sketch dynamic forms, render feathers and wings, and create harmonious backgrounds.
The class will be held weekly from 2-5 pm on Thursdays, October 9, 23, and 30 in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, MI. You may select individual classes or enroll in the series for a discounted rate!

Eternal fans of writer Edgar Allan Poe are invited to flex their writing skills with instructor Cheryl Meyer. Students will be given prompts and assistance in writing a short story inspired by Poe’s “The Telltale Heart”. The class will read the story, and you will write a short-short story (3 pages or less!) inspired by the reading. All skills welcome!

Brews & Brushes is the perfect way to unwind, get creative, and enjoy a fun evening out. This monthly acrylic painting class is led by Brenda O’Brien, who provides step-by-step instructions to help you create a beautiful 16x20 masterpiece, no matter your skill level. Bring your favorite beverage, invite a friend, and let your imagination flow! We provide all the supplies you need—just come ready to paint and leave with a finished work of art. Brews & Brushes is a great way to explore your artistic side in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

The 3nd annual Michigan Bright Water Storytelling Festival will be at Howell Opera House, 123 W Grand River Ave, Howell, Michigan 48843 on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm Eastern time. Throughout the day, we will host three engaging storytelling workshops featuring Dorothy Cleveland and Barb Schutzgruber, Steve Daut, and Roshanda Womack as well as two Open Mics. Roshanda Womack and Sufian Zhemukhov will cap off the festival’s theme, “Serendipity”, with stories from 7:30-9:00 pm.
OPENING NIGHT! The Midland Symphony Orchestra invites you on a breathtaking musical journey celebrating the violin! The evening begins with Motherboxx Connection by Carlos Simon, a vibrant and powerful work commissioned by our friends and partners at The Sphinx Organization. Violinist Adrian Anantawan will join the Orchestra for a performance of this Tchaikovsky masterwork. The second half features the beautiful and alluring Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.

This is the second course of four in the Fundamentals of Drawing series with acclaimed artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. This course will build upon the skills learned in course 1 to further advance your technical art skills. Participants will learn how to utilize tools to sharpen their skills in drawing. You will learn more about observation with site measuring. Students will also learn technical skills in using grids, their many uses as a tool, and how it assists in portrait drawing, as well as one & two-point perspective drawing.
Fundamentals of Drawing 1 is required before taking Fundamentals of Drawing 2.
This 12-week course will be held weekly from 3-5:30 pm, on Monday, September 15-December 1, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
