Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge's "Loonapalooza"
Loonapalooza is an evening of celebration of Seney National Wildlife Refuge's world-famous common loons, home of the oldest common loons of known age in the world. A members-and-guest reception with complimentary refreshments will kick off the evening. A public presentation with speakers from the refuge, Common Coast Research and Conservation, and the Michigan DNR will follow the reception. Speakers will share their efforts to monitor and protect the loons and the ecological systems upon which they depend. They will discuss Seney NWR's position as a unique sanctuary for many wildlife species of conservation concern and consider the community's involvement in the long term stewardship of the refuge's 95,000 acres. Specially labeled beer and wine, student art and a fantastic art auction will also be part of the evening.
