Every week, 'Destination Out' features creative improvised music, traditional world music, and jazz. Host Mike Johnston also presents a feature each week, focusing on a particular artist, or a unique style of music.

Audio for each episode of Destination Out is available for two weeks online after the episode airs. To listen, scroll below the playlists on this page and click on the episode you are interested in. You will then see three audio players, one for each hour of the program. This audio is automatically removed two weeks after an episode's original airdate.

This week on "Destination Out", Mike is joined by guest host John Litrenta as they feature Classical and Jazz music blends, including chamber jazz, third stream music, and 20th century composers.

This week includes recordings by Jimmy Giuffre, Charles Mingues, Ornette Coleman, Modern Jazz Quartet, Gil Evans, Gunther Schuller, Erik Satie, Alan Hovhaness, Jacob Druckman, Giacinto Scelsi, Giorgio Gaslini, Keith Jarrett, Buell Neidlinger, and Anthony Ortega.

This week, Mike Johnston, along with guest host Donovan Boxey, featured the music of the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians), based out of Chicago.

They looked at the music and history of the AACM that begain in the early 60's, also including recent recordings.

Featuring: Art Ensemble of Chicago (Roscoe Mitchell), Anthony Braxton, Wadada Leo Smith, Fred Anderson, Air (Henry Threadgill), Muhal Richard Abrams, Leroy Jenkins.

This week on "Destination Out", we featured the music of Julian Priester, who has played with everyone from Duke Ellington to Sun Ra. Also, music from Craig Harris, Art Ensemble of Chicago, and more.
