Poaching

The first round of elk season in Michigan has started, and the state says it will give a financial reward to tipsters who successfully report illegal poaching.

These threatened fish only have one priority right now: to find where they hatched in the Black River and create the next generation. But on their mission, these gigantic fish are vulnerable to poaching.

Hundreds of lake sturgeon will be traveling upstream at the end of this month to spawn. The state and local partners are seeking volunteers to stand guard as the fish make their journey in Cheboygan County to prevent poaching.
