Michigan Great Lakes

A team of Icelandic biologists were in Michigan this week to launch the 100% whitefish initiative to try and convince Canadian, state, tribal and local officials that the value of lake whitefish can grow significantly.

Admiral Linda Fagan was nominated by President Joe Biden to be the 27th commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. If confirmed, she will be the first woman to head an armed service branch. During her confirmation hearing, she was asked about the future of ice breaking operations on the Great Lakes.
