Every week, 'Destination Out' features creative improvised music, traditional world music, and jazz. Host Mike Johnston also presents a feature each week, focusing on a particular artist, or a unique style of music.

Audio for each episode of Destination Out is available for two weeks online after the episode airs. To listen, scroll below the playlists on this page and click on the photo or title of the episode you are interested in. You will then see three audio players, one for each hour of the program. This audio is automatically removed two weeks after an episode's original airdate.

This week on “Destination Out”, Mike Johnston was joined by guest host Rob Johnson. Rob was a film producer of the 2018 documentary film “Amazing Grace”, and former owner of Rooster Blues Records. Mike and Rob payed a three-hour tribute to their mutual friend Rob Kabeary, who passed away a year ago. We heard from Bob Marley, Jerry Garcia, Charlie Haden, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Jimi Hendrix, and others!

This week on “Destination Out”, Mike Johnston featured west coast artist from 1978-1982. We heard from Tim Burne, Anthony Davis, John Carter, and James Newton.

This week on "Destination Out", Mike Johnston featured the work of "Other Dimensions In Music". We heard recordings from the 1990's to the present, with bassist William Parker and trumpeter Roy Cambpell! 

This week on “Destination Out”, Mike Johnston featured the work of tenor saxophonist Harold Land. We heard his recordings from the 1950s-1970s, including his work with Clifford Brown and Max Roach.

This week on “Destination Out”, Mike Johnston featured the work of pianist Larry Willis. We also heard from the late Ginger Baker – Plus music from the newest John Coltrane Quartet release, “Blue World”.
