Public welcomed at massive Michigan sunflower farm

Hall Farms

One farm in the U.P. is quickly blossoming into a tourist destination..thanks to its over four-hundred-and-forty-thousand sunflowers.

Dan and Teressa Hall have owned their central U.P. farm for decades. Their sunflower operation bloomed only a few years ago..to be harvested for bird feed. But it’s attracted more tourists than birds.

Dan said during peak growing season, the farm can bring thousands of travellers wanting to meander throughout the sunny fields.

“We’ve farmed all our lives. I’ve always told people..I says, y’know, there was a day that my wife and I hardly had a penny to our names. I do not want anybody to be excluded from this. Matter of fact, the young families, the families that have kids that maybe don’t have the resources...we want them to come here and enjoy the day.”

Hall says the best time to view the flowers is over the next two weeks.

Hall Farms is located at 2623 St. Nicholas 31st Road, Rock, Michigan.
