The Coronavirus pandemic and Governor Whitmer's subsequent stay-at-home order has led to a dramatic drop in tax revenue.

In an effort to save money in the state budget… Whitmer has announced that Michigan will participate in the federal Unemployment Insurance Agency Workshare Program.  She says the plan will affect 31-thousand state employees…

“Impacted state employees will take two temporary lay off days per pay period – beginning on Sunday May 17th until July 25th. Which will result in an estimated $80 million dollars in decreased wage costs.”

Whitmer says the affected employees will keep their health insurance benefits. High-level managers will take a five percent pay cut.
