Inman recall asks court to put question on ballot

Michigan House Republicans

A campaign to recall a state lawmaker is asking an appeals court to reverse a decision by Michigan’s top elections official and put the question to voters.

Representative Larry Inman is a Republican from Grand Traverse County. He’s accused of offering to trade his vote on a controversial labor issue for campaign donations. The recall campaign says Inman can’t continue to do his job while he deals with that. But the state elections director says typos on the recall petition forms disqualify them under Michigan law.

Sondra Hardy is a leader of the recall drive. She says that decision is not fair to the nearly 14 thousand voters who signed petitions.

“There’s just too many people whose wishes are going to be totally ignored if we don’t do this appeal.”

Hardy says the group also wants the court to act quickly so the question on Inman can appear on the March ballot.
