House ethics Committee reviews conduct of Rashida Tlaib

United States Congress

A report by the U-S House Ethics Committee finds a Michigan Congresswoman who’s repeatedly criticized President Trump may have mis-used funds from her campaign.

Detroit Democrat Rashida Tlaib says shes done nothing wrong.

Tlaib called for Trump’s impeachment well before any official inquiry, and the President tweeted she and three other congresswomen of color should go back where they came from - which in Tlaib’s case would be Detroit.

But the bi-partisan House Ethics Committee says after Detroit-ers elected Tlaib, she was still receiving thousands of dollars from her campaign fund, which could violate federal regulations.

Tlaib’s attorneys counter that the funds were simply delayed salary payments she’s permitted to take during a campaign, and needed as a single parent who left her job to run for Congress.

They add that it is unprecedented for the House to investigate what a member did before they even took office.
