Starting Friday, the state of Michigan will start accepting license applications for recreational marijuana businesses.
But retail sales may still be a long way off. One industry official does not expect a big rush of applications. Robin Schneider is the executive director of the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association. She says some businesses might wait until more cities allow retail pot shops, and there are more marijuana products ready for the market.
Schneider says that may delay the first recreational marijuana sales in Michigan.
“Once that product is grown and cured, it then it needs go through testing. We could be looking at March or April.”
Michigan voters approved recreational marijuana in 20-18.
