Elissa Slotkin, the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s eighth district, opened her office in Lansing over the weekend.
The Eighth district includes Ingham, Livingston and parts of Oakland County. Slotkin says choosing Lansing as her home base is fulfilling an important campaign promise.
“Part of being sort of a new generation of representative is just thinking about the community differently. And, you can’t understand what people are going through, and the problems that you need to work on without actually listening. And you can’t do that without a very robust office that has open doors.”
Slotkin also has plans to open an office in Rochester, as well as field representatives in Livingston and Oakland counties.
