Catholic diocese across the state received search warrants Wednesday from the Michigan Attorney General.

The warrants are part of the Attorney General’s investigation into how the Catholic church has handled clergy sex abuse allegations.

The Diocese of Saginaw said in a written statement that they were quote “committed to taking additional measures, which may be suggested by law enforcement, in order to better protect children and vulnerable adults.”

At the Diocese of Gaylord, officials echoed those statements adding that they strive to quote “implement and improve our policies and procedures to best protect children and to compassionately respond to victim-survivors.”

The Attorney General’s office said it could not comment on an open investigation.
