We roll out 2025 this week on Homespun celebrating the life of folk singer/songwriter Peter Yarrow by spinning some tracks from his time with Peter, Paul, & Mary, and honor the 50 year mark of Bob Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks” with selections from it, and covers from Emma Swift, and Shawn Colvin.

On this first Homespun of 2025, we’ll look back on 2024 and spin some of Tom Ball's favorite artist’s music from the last year! Alison Brown, Ruth Moody, Tony Trischka, John Leventhal, Sarah Jarosz, and David Olney-just to name a few!

“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose”…..YES! It’s the Holiday season and we head toward the new year on this week’s Homespun with the sounds of New Grange, John McCutcheon, The Fairfield Four, Tim& Mollie O’Brien, The Burns Sisters, and much more!

The Temperature’s falling and snow is too, but on this week’s edition of Homespun we are warm and heating up with Live music from the Seldom Scene, Christmas sounds from Authentic Unlimited, and new music from Kasey Chambers, Amos Lee, and a tribute to David Olney from Willis Alan Ramsey!

On this “Foodraiser” edition of Homespun, We feature some music of Alison Krauss & Union Station, IIIrd Tyme Out, a couple Buck Owens & the Buckaroos “Live” tracks, Tribute music of David Olney by The McCrary Sisters, and of course, my colleague David Nicholas and I talking about how important it is to support WMCU and our partnership with Mercantile Bank!

On this Thanksgiving weekend of Homespun, we give “Thanks” musically with the sounds of Third Tyme Out, David Grisman, The Lonesome River Band, Jerry Douglas, as well as contemporary “Folk”, Simon & Garfunkel, Sam Cooke, The Beatles, and more!

As we head toward the Thanksgiving Holiday, I give thanks for all the great music I get to share each week on Homespun! Ted Lundy & the Southern Mountain Boys, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Joe Val, Jody Stecher, Paul Brady, Old & in the Way, and so much more!

The leaves are almost down, and the summer chairs are stored away on Homespun this week we’ll hear the otherworldly sounds of Pentangle, Solas, and Irish Singer Mick Hanley. We’ll also spin the banjo work of 5-string master Bill Keith, and the freedom songs of Mavis Staples!

New music abounds on this week’s edition of Homespun where the new sounds of South Hill Banks, Authentic Unlimited, and Darin & Brooke Aldridge carry us on. We’ll also hear the old timey music of The Bucking Mules, Sami Braman, plus Hazel and Alice, AND a new tribute to singer-songwriter David Olney!

The Rice Brothers made many records individually but only recorded once together. On the next Homespun, we’ll hear some of those recordings, as well as the Lilly Bros with Don Stover, the blues of (John Lee) Sonny Boy Williamson, Big Joe Williams, Meade Lux Lewis, and new music from Singer-Songwriter Kim Richey!
