When protesters took over a section of Enbridge’s Line 5 oil pipeline last week and wrenched a safety valve shut, it took emergency responders nearly an hour to figure out where they were. A review of emergency call logs by WCMU News shows the pipeline company didn’t get in touch with emergency dispatchers until the protesters were getting ready to leave the scene.
