Ford Motor Company is working with 3-M and G-E to speed up production of medical equipment for health care workers and patients.

Jim Baumbick  is with Ford.

He says the equipment includes high-tech respirators and face shields for health care workers, and ventilators for COVID-19 patients to help them breathe.

“This is really inspired by our understanding of the surge demand being placed on our first responders and medical professionals and really we just wanted to help accelerate in any way we could in getting a range of critical protective gear in the hands of these brave men and women in the medical community that are fighting COVID-19 on the front line.”

General Motors and Fiat Chrysler say they're also working with other companies to boost production of equipment for health care workers and patients.
