Democratic presidential candidates are preparing for this week’s second debate, set in Detroit.
The candidates’ performance will likely determine whether several of them continue their bid for the White House.
The debate will again be spread across two consecutive evenings, to accommodate the large field of candidates.
The first evening features two of the leaders of the party’s progressive wing, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
They both appeared last week at a forum in Detroit held by the N-double-A-C-P.
Sanders told that crowd President Trump is running on an agenda of dividing the nation according to race and religion.
SANDERS: “The antidote to what Trump is doing in my view…is exactly the opposite…is bringing people together.”
The stakes are especially high for candidates who need to gain enough funding and support to qualify for future debates.
