Destination Out this week featured the music of front line Detroit musicians Pepper Adams (baritone saxophone) and Donald Byrd (trumpet) in various versions of their band between 1958 and 1961. Including a host of other Detroit area giants including pianist Tommy Flannigan and drummer Elvin Jones. They also were the first non-Chicago band to hire Herbie Hancock away from his home area. Included in the program is a short tribute to Greg Allman who passed away over the weekend.
