A special unit from the Bureau of Indian Affairs is investigating a cold case that happened in Mount Pleasant 18 years ago and is asking the public for information.
Special Agent Nicholas DePlonty in partnership with the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department is working on the case of Augustine Floyd. Floyd went missing in Mount Pleasant on October 13, 2007.
“Consistent progress has been made on this case since 2007, yet the disappearance of Augustine Floyd remains unsolved,” Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Detective Neil Schiefer said in a press release. “To bring the family closure, we are again seeking the public’s help.”
The unit is asking people to report information leading to the discovery of Floyd and is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for it.
The Missing and Murdered Unit has been solving missing, murdered and human trafficking cases of Indigenous People since 2019. There are 40 agents of the unit nationwide, and two of them are located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
