The 105-foot, three-masted schooner Alliance joins ISEA's fleet.

A new education vessel is about to set sail and is scheduled to arrive this week in Suttons Bay.

An increased interest in the Inland Seas Education Association’s programming spurred the organization to purchase The Alliance.

The schooner is traveling over 3,000 miles from Maryland and will arrive in Suttons Bay on Friday.

Harrison Fischer is the marketing and communication coordinator for ISEA. He says The Alliance will fulfill a growing demand in their programs.

“We found the ship, and we thought that it fit sort of that need and would allow us to grow really nicely into that and bring Great Lakes stewardship and Great Lakes, passion and education to more people across the basin.”

The Alliance will conduct public sails in late July and August. She will head to Detroit in the fall to work with students on the Detroit River.
