A former Detroit judge has been temporarily banned from working in courts. The Michigan Supreme Court made the decision today.

Justices handed down a six-year suspension to Kahlilia Davis who previously worked in the 36th District Court.

Davis was accused of several acts of misconduct since taking office in 2017 including intentionally failing to keep records of proceedings disconnecting video recording equipment and lying about it. She was also accused of improperly using city credentials to park in a space reserved for the disability community.

The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission recommended that Davis be removed from office last year which was the second time the oversight group complained about the judge’s behavior. Davis was suspended with pay afterwards and left the position at the end of her term.
