President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reached a deal on raising the nation’s debt limit over the weekend.

The bill will likely go to a vote in the House Wednesday.

Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee, D-Flint, said he’s “very likely” to support the bill.

Kildee told WCMU the compromises between President Biden and Speaker McCarthy likely fall where the country stands on the debt limit.

Kildee said he received the final text of the debt ceiling bill late Sunday and called the final days of negotiating between McCarthy and President Biden constructive.

Kildee said President Biden’s support of the bill makes a difference.

"I know the President and I share a lot of the same concerns and values, we worked together on some of the legislation that it looks like we were able to protect the Inflation Reduction Act, for example, was untouched as a part of this legislation," said Kildee.

Kildee says he hasn’t made a final decision on the debt limit bill. Kildee plans to go through the entire 99-pages of text before a vote and voiced concerns over potential cuts to funding federal environmental projects.

"My inclination is to support any compromise that doesn't decimate some of the progress that we've made in the last couple of years, particularly, and investing in our future and prevents default," said Kildee.
