The ongoing talks over raising the nation’s debt ceiling could have an impact on local Michigan governments.

Among the items reportedly on the table is rolling back some money for local projects.

Dan Gilmartin is the C-E-O of the Michigan Municipal League. He’s concerned about what the potential cuts could mean for various programs...

Dan said,  “Programs in clean water, programs in transportation, climate mitigation, economic development, public safety and a like.”

Gilmartin says ARPA money already allocated for the state and local governments will not be affected.

White House and congressional leaders are talking in hopes of striking a deal before the June First deadline.
