President Biden is tapping Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan (DUG-in) to serve as a key surrogate in the 2024 campaign.
The Biden team selected Duggan as one of 50 members of a so-called National Advisory Board…who will help promote the President’s message.
That includes addressing Biden’s persistent low poll ratings regarding his handling of the economy.
Duggan says voters should examine the job-less rate in Michigan and across the country.
Duggan said, “We can’t fill good-paying jobs in this city. I’ve never seen the disconnect. We’ve been reading recession stories from the media for 18 months. And every month the unemployment rate comes out and it gets lower. I think it’s ridiculous.”
Duggan also notes the Biden Administration’s efforts to push electric vehicle development and create domestic supply chains.
The mayor says that work is bringing new jobs and investment to states like Michigan.
