Some members of the United Auto Workers face temporary layoffs this week…at a Ford Motor factory responsible for building the latest Mustang cars.

Ford already slowed production and canceled some work shifts at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in recent weeks.

Now the Detroit Free Press reports Ford is again idling the facility…to focus on improving the quality of certain parts used in its 2024 model Mustang. The newspaper says Ford officials have changed the way they debut new vehicles…in an effort to ensure there are no quality-control issues.

The automaker’s C-E-O has said Ford must reduce the billions of dollars it spends to recall vehicles and repair defects after they have already hit the market.
