A new report finds Michigan is spending too little to maintain its infrastructure.
In the report....the state earned only a “C-minus” overall for its roads...bridges...water and other infrastructure systems. That’s actually an improvement from “D-plus” in 2018. Ron Brenke [BREN-key] is the Executive Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan.
He says Michigan has benefited from one-time federal and state funding... “The one-time infusions of money are great and they are helping. But what we’re really concerned about is the long-term sustainable funding for the system.”
Experts have estimated the state needs to spend billions of additional dollars annually for many years to substantially improve Michigan’s infrastructure.
