Congressman Dan Kildee recovers from successful cancer surgery

Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee leaves George Washington University hospital on April 22. He stayed at the hospital for several days recovering from a surgery for squamous cell carcinoma.

Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee was released from the hospital this weekend.

Kildee underwent surgery to remove a small cancerous tumor on his tonsil. In a statement, he said he was grateful to have caught the diagnosis early thanks to receiving a preventative scan.

He also thanked his team of doctors at at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C.

"After surgery and recovery, my doctors have told me my prognosis is excellent," Kildee said.

Kildee said he appreciates his staff for continuing his work as he recovers from surgery at home. He said he looks forward to returning to congress soon.
