Temperatures are heating up, and weather officials are reminding Michiganders about the potential risk of wildfires.
A combination of dry vegetation, warm temperatures and gusty winds are causing high wildfire danger, according to the National Weather Service.
Don Klingler works with the fire division of the Department of Natural Resources. He’s reminding people to put out their campfires before leaving them.
“We encourage (people) to get out and recreate- the outdoors is meant to be used," He said. "Just use some common sense if you're out there.”
Klingler said the DNR is “all hands on deck” covering wildfires that have been reported in - among other places - Gladwin, Harrison and Traverse city.
Red Flag warnings from the National Weather Service are likely to continue, at least until Michigan sees some rain.
