Mid-Michigan is expected to see rain tonight into Saturday afternoon, and some flooding will be possible.
Arenac and Wexford counties could see some minor river flooding, and frozen soil around the state could prevent absorption, said National Weather Service Gaylord Meteorologist Sean Christensen.
"We are expecting some pretty good northerly winds, along with really strong wind gusts. Depending on where you are, that can range from upper thirties to fifty miles an hour," he said. "Areas of Leelanau County can see gusts in the high forties, areas near Manistee can see gusts up to 45 miles an hour."
North of the bridge a winter storm—currently stated to be a winter storm warning—could bring whiteout conditions tonight into Saturday, Christensen said.
"Temperatures are going to play a big role in it," he said. "If it’s colder, we can see higher snow fall amounts. Warmer storm track as it moves through the area, obviously snow fall amounts are going to be a lot lower. But we are keeping an eye on it, just to make sure everything is running smoothly."
Travelers should take precautions tonight and tomorrow, and he said they should be aware of ponding on roads.
