Wayne State to provide free tuition for low-income families

The Wayne State Guarantee is funded with a combination of state and federal grants, along with Wayne State grants and scholarships.

The program is open to first-year undergraduates who are Michigan residents.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer said the initiative is a part of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship program she signed into law last year.

“Families will save money without shortchanging ambition. Communities will see more students stay and build their lives close to home. And businesses will have more talent to hire as they grow here in Michigan.”

Funds will be available in fall 2023 to students who have been admitted to the university and applied for federal aid by April 1.
